I don't feel real happy today. I am up two lbs and that bothers me. I felt I ate according to the bodybugg within my calorie range BUT we ate out way too much...and I tried to get the calorie count of the foods off of Internet. Did not exercise as much last week because of the hip and leg.
I guess I need to let that go and try to do better this week.
Yesterday it said I burned 2184 calories and ate between 1500-1550. I should probably try to get the food a bit under control. I feel good that I am eating healthy snacks (1) in the morning of veggies, and none in the afternoon but gum and water. And I have only had about 4 ozs of 7-up lately....so trying to break the old pop habit....maybe that is why I have headaches.
That is all. Suggestions, bawlings out, encourgement?????
Well, sometimes that happens with the give and take of body weight, water retention, bowels and etc. Don't go into starvation mode! Perhaps you were a bit off on calorie count here and there, but I'm assuming this is just one of the normal day to day fluxes in weight. If it continues, then you should look again at what you are eating. Just continue to do as you are doing, making healthy choices, and doing the best you can when you eat out. It does make it harder to eat healthy with the amount you guys eat out, but don't be afraid to ask for what you need - (dressings, butters, cheeses on side, substituting healthier sides or ingredients for unhealthy ones, etc.) If you're going to be eating out that much, you need to be vocal about your eating needs. You'd be surprised at how many people order off the menu or make special requests. You might have to pay a bit more for special requests, but do it! Also be sure to be ready with ideas for good and healthy home cooked meals when so you can quickly offer up an alternative to Dad for going out to eat. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for that imput. Make me feel a bit better. I think this spring and summer once dad starts working and coming home late...he won't want to go out as much and it will be easier to eat better meals and more veggies, etc.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the lovely cecil p. (again). I also would suggest that you don't weigh yourself everyday (not sure if you are, but it seems you are weighing pretty frequently). You know very well your weight can fluctuate by several pounds on a day to day basis from all sorts of things...sodium intake, etc. If it is going to discourage you to see an increase in pounds than weigh only once a week so you are only getting the big picture. If you are up after a week then maybe you need to reevaluate what you are doing.
ReplyDeleteI feel very very strongly that it is almost impossible to eat out on a regular basis and lose weight. Maybe you can prove me wrong but that is my feeling. I also find that it tends to make me crave unhealthy stuff the more I eat out. I agree with m.p. that having stuff already planned would be a great way to not eat out. Just say to dad...Oh I was already planning on making _______. I think this is one of the instances that you just need to stand up to him and tell him this is the way it is going to be. If you get non cooperative comments, ignore them to your best ability and cook away. I have been doing something for the last 1.5 months that has helped quite a bit. I bought a big old calendar and I have now sat down 2x and made menus for 3 weeks in advance...looking at who has what going on, who is going to be there, etc. I make my shopping lists in advance and then can just grab the current one and head to the store. I make about 4-5 recipes a week, have a leftover night, maybe a fend for yourself night when we might grab leftovers, sandwiches, frozen pizza etc. so far it has been highly successful for me to do several weeks in advance as doing it on a weekly basis has been hit or miss. I then put the menu on the calendar (also using it for the girls assigned daily chores) and it is there for me to see what the plan is for the day. Of course, it is flexible and I switch nights around if stuff comes up...but something to think about. And then of course, plan for a night out to go out to eat...maybe go somewhere nice with all the money you have saved by eating in the rest of the week. Also i am sure Cecil and I both have healthy quick recipes we could share with you that would be much better for you and honestly much tastier than eating out. perhaps we could share them here. I could always make it so that we could all post in the main part of the blog or we could just post them in the comments...up to you...if you desire some recipes.
Overall...I think you are doing well so cheer up =).
